Nanotechnology is the study and manipulation of matter at incredibly small sizes, generally between one and 100 nanometers. To put this in perspective, a piece of paper is about 100,000 nanometers thick.

What is nanotechnology?

Nanotechnology encompasses a very broad range of materials, manufacturing processes and technologies that are used to create and enhance many products people use every day.

The lotus-leaf effect

The lotus effect is a naturally occurring property that is a result of very high water repellency or hydrophobicity, as exhibited by the leaves of the lotus flower. Basically dirt particles are picked up by water droplets due to the micro and nanoscopic architecture of the surface, which minimise the droplets’ ability to stick to the surface.

This is an ideal property to incorporate into the chemistry for cleaning, detailing and appearance products in the automotive, marine, transport and aviation sectors.

Concept’s nano-formulated products take advantage of this effect of nature to resist dirt sticking to treated surfaces, making them much easier to clean and maintain.
